Amy Kahn Russell designed this piece from a vintage carving in her personal jade collection. Depicted are several Chinese symbols of long life: Sau, the popular Chinese god of longevity and easy living; the gourd, which is said to hold the elixir of life, or immortality; and the deer, representing abundance, happiness, good fortune, as well as a long and successful career.
