This lovely and very unusual Bakelite cameo dates to the 1920's-1930's. The cameo was made to simulate ivory, down to the vertical striations on the face. It is set in caramel Bakelite with citrines, white pearl, and brass. The Mars & Valentine logo is found on the back.
The necklace is composed of three strands of fresh water pearls and fine vermeil and sterling silver chain. The necklace is 17 1/2" long.
The cameo in its setting measures 2" long x 1 7/8" wide; measurements include the stones. The total finished length, including the bale, is 3 5/8".
Closure is a sterling silver lobster claw clasp; the cones are decorated with sterling silver leaf appliques.
