This magnificent nautical collar is composed of three 19th century compasses, four beautiful pieces of blue-gray drusy, clear crystal, pearls, white topaz stones, and sterling silver. The large central pendant bears the mark, "Germany." A sterling silver sloop-rigged sailboat is found within the raised clear crystal element.
Two large free form white pearls, married with white topaz stones, introduce a feminine counterpoint to the strength and power of the compasses.
A detailed large navy anchor provides the starting point for the pendant, from which hang a faceted large white topaz stone, a ring of pearls and white topaz, and the largest compass, which is 1 3/4" diameter.
Most of the elements are 1" to 1 3/4" in size; the collar is 23 1/2" long with a 1" extender. The pendant portion drops about 4" below the line of the necklace. Closure is a sterling silver toggle clasp.
This extraordinary creation weighs about 12 ounces. It is not especially heavy on the body, but the wearer will know that it is there. The value of the silver and of the antique compasses make this piece an exceptional investment.
